Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers Wanted!
Do you love horses? Are you concerned or want to know more about America"s wild horses? Did you know there are still wild horses in the West and that their numbers are diminshing rapidly? Want to get involved with a non-profit that is dedicated to the preservation of a small herd of wild horses? No poop-scooping involved, but we do need dedicated, active volunteers that are willing to advocate for the horses.
We are an all-volunteer organization, and we are 100% donor funded. We really need help getting the word out, raising awareness about America's Mustangs, and raising funds to care for our small herd of Sheldon horses.
Marketing - we could use help with getting newsletters written and mailed, getting interviews on radio and TV, and any other ideas you may have getting the word out to the public. This would also include finding sponsors for mailings, or items to auction.
Grant writing - if you have experience researching grants, we could use your help searching for grant opportunities that might be available, and even putting proposals together.
Fundraising - this area is limited only by your imagination. Some ideas include:
- Put donation boxes in various business locations and check them periodically. We have a few boxes available, so let us know if you know of a place to put one.
- Auction items on behalf of The Mustang Project. Click here to follow us on eBay for Charity.
- If you're a teacher, make a classroom project to learn more about Wild Horse Annie and the Mustangs in America, and do a fund drive.
- If you work in a company that provides matching donations or payroll deductions, please ask them if donations can be made to The Mustang Project.
- Host an event like wine tasting or golf tournament.
- If you have a great idea to post here, please let us know!
Hydroponics - if anyone is familiar with or has had any experience with hydroponics for growing foder, please contact us as we would like to set up a system for about 10 horses (to start).
